Should I change the copy in any of the text boxes? Make a real 955x200 logo image? Use different Ning features? Find sponsors? Find judges?
Help me out here, please!
EDIT 8/5/08
So now that we've got these games, what are we going to do with them?
First, I'm going to let the various online communities that I used to promote the Game Challenge know that we'd love input.
Second, I guess we should decide on what the critiques should be looking at. I'm guessing we'll break it down into a few categories, like:
Use of Ingredients
Fun Premise
Fun Mechanics
Unity
Variety
Stuff like that.
Dang... I gots to wait til the 23rd to find out the secret ingredient? I'm already almost done making my game! I hope the secret ingredient is Spandex... that'll stretch over anything.
I would vote for an explicit losing condition and a non-dice, non-card randomizer being the secret ingredients... those plus the idea words provide enough context, I think.
Nah, no sponsors, no judges... just people, baby, just people...
Seriously, don't even worry about this thing snowballing! I say we keep it fast and loose. All we're really trying to do is stimulate everyone else's minds to get creative, right? So, for those who need pressure, we've got the time limit and the ingredients and the constraint... for those who hate pressure, we've got no judges and no penalty for not being able to get the juices flowing...
Well, if you look at the bottom of the left column, there are already few links ;)
And I think you'll be satisfied with the "judges" I'm trying to recruit. It won't mess with the "Just People" Zen. I should probably delete the "Volunteer to Judge!" part of my message board posts, but I really don't think there's going to me much of a response from that vector. I do think things will pick up here after Dexcon is over.
Also, George, can I just say: Dude! Way to go above and beyond the call of duty here! Website, openness to new people, getting the word out... so very cool, man!
I did! I swear! With the exception of Ben Lehman, it looks pretty ignored,
I hit up the Game Design and Development forum at RPGnet, too. I didn't do ThereIsNoScreen or The Forge or TheRPGSite since I don't have accounts at any of those.
I'm sure people have been mulling over their ideas or even writing already. I'm 99% sure that the Secret Ingredient won't mess up anyone who started "early."
That's good, because my game is done. I just need to cook up some missions, put together my spinners when the parts arrive, shrink wrap them, and you're all invited to my mansion/underground bunker when I sell 99 gazillion copies to every human on earth.
